The device can only be purchased through Microsoft’s commercial channels.
Instead of using its own operating system, it provides access to a virtual machine hosted in the cloud.
Microsoft has started selling Windows 365 Link, Windows Central reports.
The device differs from other compact computers in the complete absence of an operating system – instead, it only provides access to a virtual machine hosted in the cloud with Windows 11.
A computer on which you can run Windows only through the cloud has certain advantages, including better security and performance, since the local device does not store any information, and a cloud PC can be upgraded at any time to a better processor, more RAM or storage.
The dimensions of the device are 120×120×30 mm. Inside Windows 365 Link uses a quad-core Intel N250 processor with a frequency of up to 3.8 GHz, 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 64 GB of UFS permanent memory. It supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The set of external connectors includes one USB-A 3.2 Gen1, two USB-A 3.2 Gen2, one USB-C 3.2, LAN, HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4.
The device can only be purchased through commercial channels of Microsoft Corporation, as it is not intended for home use. Windows 365 Link is available for purchase in the United States, Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. The device is priced at $349
